Volkswagen Group Malaysia has announced the arrival of the VW Beetle Bug Edition, and that it’s available for viewing and test drive at your nearest Volkswagen dealership. This 200-unit limited edition variant is on sale for RM146,888 and is based on the Beetle 1.2 TSI Sport variant, a RM140,888 offering.

For RM6,000 more, you get genuine Volkswagen Bug side sills and decals, racing body stripes, a Bug logo on the tailgate and bi-xenon headlights with LED DRLs. Standard exterior features such as the halogen fog lamps, 16-inch ‘Whirl’ alloy wheels with 215/60 R16 series tyres and electronically foldable side mirrors are retained.
Because the changes are merely aesthetics, you get the same direct injected 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 104 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 175 Nm of torque from 1,550 to 4,100 rpm. Transmission choice is the one and only seven-speed DSG, allowing the bug to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 180 km/h. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.9 litres per 100km.
There are five colours to choose from – Graciosa Brown, Deep Black, Saturn Yellow, Tornado Red and Pure White, as seen in the pictures here. Again, the Beetle Bug Edition is priced at RM146,888 and comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty programme.
