Hyundai Veloster 1.6L Turbo to make Malaysian debut on April 17th, may cost over RM150k



Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has just revealed the official launching date of the Veloster 1.6L Turbo, and it will take place in mid-April – on the 17th to be exact. The order books for this RM150k (current estimated price) hot hatch were opened since late last month, and we managed to catch it in person at the recently concluded Bangkok International Motor Show.

Here are some quick bits to get your hearts racing. The Veloster, as you would have known by now, will be fitted with a 1.6-litre Gamma T-GDi petrol engine making 184 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 265 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via an in-house developed seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Hyundai claims that its hot hatch will sprint from 0 t0 100 km/h in under 8 seconds and manages a top speed of 220 km/h.

It’ll be available in a limited edition Matte Grey colour, and like other Hyundai models, it will come with a five-year or 300,000km warranty programme. So what’s your pick going to be like? The Fiesta ST, Polo GTI, 208 GTI, Clio RS or a new breed of force-fed Korean hatchling?
