Toyota Hilux gets updated, new TRD Sportivo variant joins the lineup from RM105k

The Toyota Hilux has been roaming on Malaysian soil for the past 10 years. No joke. It’s been refreshed several times over the decade, and now in 2015, UMW Toyota Motor has introduced what may well be the last addition (fingers crossed) to ageing pick up truck’s range – the Hilux TRD Sportivo.

Priced at RM105,622.20 and RM112,967 (OTR with insurance) respectively, both the 2.5G and 3.0G double cab variants will benefit from this sporty upgrade, all of which is cosmetic, as expected. The TRD trim is dressed with an exclusively designed bodykit with built-in LED daytime running lights, blacked out alloy wheels, TRD-specific leather upholstery, carbon fiber printing on the instrument and door panels, as well as TRD carpet mats.

Buyers of this trim can choose to get the optional TRD sports bar installed at the rear end of the cab that is matched to the exterior body colour, and is made of lightweight ABS material. Again, no changes are made to the engine or transmission, so you either choose the 2.5-litre (142 hp and 343 Nm) or the 3.0-litre (161 hp and 343 Nm).

As for the non-TRD 3.0G and 2.5G variants, they get refreshed with a set of dark grey alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights integrated into the front bumper (just above the fog lamps), new interior trim and seat materials. Both G variants will also feature new bodystripes along the side of the body. The base model Hilux also gets new fabric seats, just to keep things fresh before the all-new Hilux rolls in.

There will be two new colours for the Double Cab range – Grey Metallic and Attitude Black. All Hiluxes come with a three-year or 100,000km warranty programme, whichever occurs first. Anyone fancy?
