Honda Malaysia HR-V on nationwide tour, official launching in February

For those who are keen to see Honda’s latest model – the HR-V (aptly named Hip and Smart Runabout Vehicle) – in the metal, you would be pleased to know that the very car is on display at Mid Valley beginning today till Sunday as part of their month-long nationwide tour.

Widely known or referred to as the baby CR-V (although they share no significant resemblance to our eyes), the HR-V is quite possibly be the strongest B-Segment SUV competitor introduced to date. For starters, it has the largest engine displacement currently in its segment, featuring a 1.8-litre i-VTEC SOHC naturally aspirated engine shared with the Civic 1.8 S, although Honda hasn’t revealed the numbers it makes yet.

The engine is paired to a CVT gearbox that drives the front wheels, which measures at 16-inches wrapped with 215/50R16 series Bridgestone Turanza tyres. The unit you see here is the range topping V-spec, which benefits from a good list of features including LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, LED rear combination lights, keyless entry and push-start ignition.

Inside, the V-spec gets a console pocket with HDMI and USB ports, 7-inch head unit (navigation system may be offered too), multi-angle rear view camera, six airbags, touch-based auto air conditioning, leather seats, Hill Start Assist and Auto Brake Hold, Vehicle Stability Assist, cruise control, ECON Mode with Eco Assist, electric parking brake and as many as seven cup holders. Quite a mouthful, isn’t it?

This subcompact SUV can also be viewed on Honda Malaysia’s website, and is most likely to be launched at this month’s end, if not in early February, just in time for the Chinese New Year celebrations. Honda Malaysia has already opened the order books, but its price tag remains unknown for the time being.

Should you be interested to catch the HR-V in person, here’s a list of where it will make its upcoming stops.
