Exactly a month ago, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) introduced the fifth-generation C-Class in two flavours – C200 Avantgarde and C250 Exclusive, both costing RM286k and RM315k respectively. Now, MBM has added another variant to the baby S-Class lineup, the C250 AMG Line.
Priced at RM339,888.00 (OTR without insurance), the fully imported C250 AMG Line costs a good RM25k more than the C250 Exclusive. Before you start getting excited over the AMG badge, let it be known that there is no increase in output figures. The AMG Line shares the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine found in the C250 Exclusive, making 211 hp and 350 Nm of torque, gets paired to the 7G-Tronic Plus automatic gearbox which drives the rear wheels.
That said, the RM25k price jump does give you plenty of tech on top of the already impressive kit the C250 Exclusive offers. For starters, the AMG Line gets a sportier exterior body, most notably the AMG front bumper with splitter finished in matte iridium silver. It also gets the AMG side sill panels and AMG rear bumper with triple diffuser fins.
To complete the whole look, the car now rides 15mm lower thanks to a set of sports suspension, while sitting on the five-spoke 18-inch AMG wheels. The sports suspension is paired to a more direct steering ratio, which makes for a more sporty drive.
For a quarter of RM100k you also get Mercedes’ LED Intelligent Light System with Adaptive High-beam Assist. This allows the driver to drive with the high-beam permanently switched on, but automatically lowers the light thrown if an oncoming vehicle is detected. This feature is active from 30 km/h upwards on pitch black roads.
Furthermore, the AMG Line grants you the COMAND Online feature that comes with an 8.4-inch high-res screen with the built-in touch pad. This non-touch screen gives you a control and display system with DVD player, radio, 10 GB of memory for your audio and video files. It also comes equipped with the Burmester Surround Sound System that drives 13 high-performance speakers with a total system output of 590 watts.
The C250 AMG Line is the second variant of the lineup to get the electric panoramic sliding sunroof, alongside the C250 Exclusive. The sunroof automatically adjusts in three stages to match the vehicle’s current speed. It lowers at high speeds to reduce noise, and raises itself at low speeds to let more light in to the cabin.
