Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia recalls 2,083 vehicles for inspection

Earlier today, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) have issued a recall for the purposes of vehicle inspection as part of their “Field Fix Campaign”. Approximately 2,083 Mitsubishi owners have been called in to get their cars checked, with models ranging from the Airtrek, Colt, Lancer, Lancer Evolution, Grandis and Outlander.

Lancer

Owners whose cars are made after 14 March 2008 are exempted from the recall. MMM strongly suggests all vehicles made before the said date to undergo a series of checks to the light switches and for it to be replaced if deemed necessary.

Due to the structure of the circuitry board, cracks could occur which could cause the signal lights and headlamps to malfunction if left undetected over time. MMM said if owners are experiencing flickering lights, blinking lights, remains lit even after switching the headlights off or completely malfunctions, chances are the cracks have already occurred.

Airtrek

Notification letters have already been issued to affected Mitsubishi owners, and MMM will absorb the full cost of inspection and repair (if required). If any of you Mitsubishi owners are experiencing any of the abnormalities above, it’s recommended that you make an appointment with any of Mitsubishi’s authorised service centres for inspection that will take approximately one hour.
