2014 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, all-wheel drive Golf on stilts



Volkswagen released the details of the new Golf Alltrack, set to make its public appearance at the Paris Motor Show in October. Based on the Golf Wagon, Golf Alltrack receives a more rugged look and a raised ground clearance by 20 mm. Like the Golf R Mk7, the Golf Alltrack is equipped with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with latest generation Haldex-5 coupling. Drive is sent to the front axle in normal loads, but the system is able to send the power to the rear axle for up to 100 percent. In addition to that, Golf Alltrack gets a new Offroad driving profile that modifies the throttle response and the ABS, and activates the hill descent function. Der neue Volkswagen Golf Alltrack A 4-cylinder petrol 1.8-litre TSI engine paired with a 6-speed DSG is offered for the first time in a Golf, producing 178 hp from 4,500 rpm and 280 Nm at 1,350 – 4,500 rpm with a fuel consumption figure of 6.8 l/100 km. It’s capable to get from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, and a top speed of 217 km/h. The 1.6-litre TDI produces 108 hp at 3,200 – 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm and will only sip 4.7 l/100 km. The 1.6 TDI will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds, with a top speed of 187 km/h. Next is a 2.0-litre TDI producing 148 hp at 3,500 – 4,000 rpm and 340 Nm at 1,750 – 3,000 rpm. The sprint time from 0 to 100 km/h is 8.9 seconds, and the top speed is 207 km/h. Der neue Volkswagen Golf Alltrack The top-of-the-range Golf Alltrack also uses a 2.0-litre TDI, but only available with the 6-speed DSG transmission. It produces 181 hp at 3,500 – 4,000 rpm and 380 Nm of torque from 1,750 – 3,250 rpm. The range-topping Alltrack gets from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 219 km/h. [divider]
