ZTH Time To Attack 2014, where petrolheads gather

This is the absolute first time we are covering the famous ZeroToHundred (ZTH) TimeToAttack 2014. This is the first round for 2014, and was indeed an eye opener for me. Stepping into the carpark, I was greeted by a sea of GT-R R35s. What a great start for TTA 2014.

Upon reaching the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), I hit the first snag. I had no idea where the registration booth was, until I asked around and was pointed to the far end of the parking lot. Great. Luckily collecting the pass was an easy affair, but I do hope that the organizers would put the future registration counter somewhere a bit more visible.

Upon walking to the pits, I was greeted by a very spectacular gathering of JDMs and European cars. The Nissan GT-R (R35),  Civic Type-R (FD2R), Lancer Evolution (I saw a 3, 6 and a few 10s), Impreza WRX STI, Toyota 86, Altezza were present.

Then on the European side, I spotted a E46 M3, several Golf GTIs, a couple McLaren MP4-12Cs, a very awesome looking Caterham Seven and surprisingly, a E90 320D.

The race started with minimal glitch, although there were some accidents, both serious and minor. The complete laptimes for all the participants can be found here. Other than the time attack, there was also a car gathering. I wouldn’t call it a classic car gathering per se, as there was some modern JDM cars as well. I spotted a whole row of nicely modded Volvos, some timeless old Japanese cars as well as slightly more modern Japanese cars (Think 90’s).

One of the more unique cars at the gathering was an old 1960s Honda S600. On the outside, it looks like a rust box, but mechanically wise, it works fine. The owner is a friendly chap who also brought his car to Retro Havoc last month. Exposing the car’s bare metal to the elements may seem like a crazy idea, but it seems like the owner knows what he’s doing. So hats off for having a truly unique looking oldie.

Enough of me talking and enjoy the pictures. I do look forward to the next ZTH TTA as it was really one of the biggest local car races around and it should not be missed by any car enthusiasts.
