Volkswagen Group Malaysia today announced the introduction of the enhanced Volkswagen Passat CKD. First introduced as a completely built-up (CBU) in 2011, followed by completely knocked-down (CKD) a year later, the Passat now has gone through an upgrade with more features.
The new locally-assembled D-segment is fitted with improved connectivity, safety and comfort features. It now has Bluetooth capability that allows telephone connectivity and audio streaming. The VW Passat CKD front seats have been upgraded with a 12-way adjustable electric seats with memory function.
In terms of safety and security, it is now equipped with anti-theft alarm system, with electronic immobilizer. Its side mirrors are now electric folding mirrors.
As for performance, it is powered by the same 1.8-litre TSI engine mated with VW’s signature 7-speed DSG gearbox. Producing 158 horsepower and 250Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds with a top speed of 220 km/h.
Available in 6 colour choices: Candy White, Light Brown, Reflex Silver, Deep Black, Black Oak Brown and Icelandic Grey, the enhanced Volkswagen Passat CKD is priced at RM170,817 (OTR without insurance).
