Volvo Concept XC Coupe: The future of Volvo XC models [+Video]

Volvo’s current SUV line-up has been in the market for quite some time now and it’s about time the Swedish marque introduce a new generation of its XC models. Well, here’s what Volvo has come up with, Volvo Concept XC Coupe, the future of XC90, XC60 and the new XC40.

This new concept is inspired by the design of modern sports equipment. A sophisticated and capable car for people with an active lifestyle. “Those who love gravity sports freely seek new thrills and challenges. To ensure that they make it back in one piece, they prefer high-performance equipment that offers the ultimate sense of freedom and protection,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President Design of Volvo Car Group.

Some of the significant designs are the floating grille, T-shaped LED in the headlights, new rear light design, chunky side sills, 21-inch wheels and front and rear skid plates. This new concept may look like a replacement of the XC60, however this is in fact a glimpse of how the new XC90 will look. The largest XC in the SUV line-up will be reveal at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Inside the car, it features an Android-based Sensus Connected Touch infotainment system via a tablet-sized central touchscreen. It allows you to download apps straight to the car. Among many other safety features in the new XC models, autobrake system that detects pedestrians in the dark and the ability to autonomously follow the car in front.

Under the hood, only a four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines across all XC models including the large XC90. Its superchargered petrol engine produces 302bhp. Hybrid versions of the same engine get 400bhp with a massive 600Nm of torque. All we need to do now is wait for the new Volvo XC90 which will be unveiled this September in Paris.
