Geneva bound Honda Civic Type R concept revealed [+Videos]

Honda is set to officially reveal its most prolific and recognizable machine, the Honda Civic Type R Concept at the upcoming 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The design team calls it “racing car for the road“, is characterized by its large, fiery diffuser with integrated brake lights and 4-piece exhaust  system as shown from the official sketch.

There are already video footages of a prototype Civic Type R gunning around Nürburgring months earlier. A 2-litre turbocharged, direct-injected, 4-pot engine is set to power the new Civic Type R and power is expected at least around 280PS. That is a lot of mad horses! This approach also mark Honda’s first attempt in turbocharging its Type R lineup, instead of the old school, high revving, VTEC-only powertrain.

The official sketch only shows a hatch form, and there is no mention whether there are any plans to spawn a sedan version of the Civic Type R just yet. Nothing much is official until Geneva, so stay tuned.

For now, check out the videos below as Honda WTCC legend Gabriele Tarquini tackles the green hell in the new Civic Type R.
