Lamborghini Huracan: The Gallardo replacement, images leaked

Lamborghini’s best selling model, the Lamborghini Gallardo has been around for a decade now and its replacement, is about to rock you like a ‘huracan’. The name of its replacement has been speculated for quite some time. ‘Cabrera’ was what the automotive world has been reporting, however sources have confirmed recently that it will be called ‘Huracan’ instead. Lamborghini trademarked the name in April 2012 together with the name of its first SUV, ‘Urus‘.

The word ‘Huracan’ was Mayan for god of fire, wind and storms, which now means ‘hurricane’ in Spanish. It does seem like Lamborghini is moving away from the tradition of naming their cars after famous fighting bulls. The ‘Miura’ was named after a Spanish fighting bull breed from the lineage of the Miura Cattle Ranch, ‘Gallardo’ was a famous breed of fighting bull traced from the Miura family, one of the fiercest Lambo the ‘Murcielago’ was a legendary bull that stood 24 stabs from the matador’s sword, and the limited edition ‘Reventon’ was a bull best known for killing famous bullfighter Felix Guzman in 1943.

What we have here are some images believed to be Lamborghini Huracan’s first official photos, that have leaked online ahead of its scheduled debut real soon. It carries some features from the Aventador and it has this dramatic look with the huge air intakes in the side sills. The rear however does look a little too subtle for a Lamborghini.

This new Lamborghini produces more than 600bhp via its modified 5.2-litre V10 that powers the outgoing LP 570-4. It is said to share the same platform with the new generation Audi R8, using new multimaterial chasis with aluminium and carbon fibre, which means it will be much lighter than the Gallardo, which also means, it will be a lot faster! However, no official figures yet at the moment. Do stick around to find out more.
