Since the birth of the Godzilla in 2007, it is known to many as ‘the supercar killer’ and its performance capability evolution has been very impressive. Now the Nissan GT-R is about to accelerate into a new era. In recent years, a lot of speculations have been going about whether the Nissan GT-R will join in the hybrid hype. In today’s automotive scene, hybridization of gas guzzling mean machine seems to be inevitable. However, you might ask why is Nissan doing this? Wouldn’t this make Godzilla go all soft? Nissan will answer ‘no, you’re wrong’, as this will be a performance hybrid somewhat similar to the Porsche 918 Spyder’s setup. The 918 Spyder can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in less than 2.8 seconds, and almost a third more fuel efficient than the Toyota Prius. Soft you say? We believe we can leave it all to Nissan and it’s tuning arm NISMO to man up this hybrid GT-R, and by 2015, we will be able to see this hybrid supercar killer in action.

Before that, we look forward to the 2014 GT-R’s official lap time at the Nurburgring. Nissan plans to announce the ring time in style at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show. The fastest lap time in the new car is said to be set by ex Formula 1 driver Sebastien Buemi. The 2013 model did a mind boggling lap in 7 minute 19.1 seconds and still maintaining its position as the top 10 fastest cars to go around the Green Hell. Knowing the GT-R’s evolution trend, we expect to see a spectacular lap time by the 2014 Nissan GT-R.
